I've taken the plunge, or as I've been phrasing things lately, drank the blood out of the skull (let's see who get's that reference) and joined Twitter.

There are a lot of movies this summer that I am eagerly awaiting...

-Wolverine
I know a lot of folks have panned this on the basis of the leaked unfinished movie, but I am willing to give it a go. The trailer I saw definitely made me pay attention.

-Star Trek
Everything I've read and seen about this movie makes me expect something fantastic, I'm hoping they DO bring in the Guardian of Forever :) :) :)

-Terminator Salvation
Again, everything I've seen and read hints that this is going to be very good.

-Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Giant robots fighting, that turn into other things. It's on like Donkey Kong.

-G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
OK I was dubious at first when I heard about this one, but the trailer and the cast have me ready to give this one a serious watch as well. Christopher Eccleston as Destro, Dennis Quaid as General Hawk. This isn't going to be Gone with the Wind! :)

-Where the Wild Things Are
Say no more, I'm there.

-Astro Boy
Haven't seen much but I'm still excited!

I'm a little tired, last night was the first night my sister wasn't home since we picked up the kitten, as well as the first time we let the kitten roam the house at night.. he went from my room to my parents room licking ears and generally being a kitten. I woke up at one point to see him staring at me 2 feet from my face, he rushed me when I opened my eyes and stopped an inch away.. fun times... Also, his eyes did end up changing colour, we thought he was going to have blue eyes but they've turned into a pale green, with hints of blue..

I've spent the day cleaning up here...I'll be going out to World's Collide' comics & games shop, I have a game on order than I've been waiting two weeks for (citadels). Following that, I'll be walking over to a gaming night at Todd and Mel's place. I'm bringing a bunch of xbox 360 games for Todd to try. I've been urging him to play Bioshock which should be right up his alley. It's a dystopian underwater steampunk city full of crazy people that you get to explore, heavy on the story elements. I'm also bringing Gears of War 2 which has some good multi player action. There will also be card and board games, I've been looking forward to it for a bit!

Friday will be quiet.. I'll probably catch up on the graphic novels I am reading written by Bill Willingham called FABLE.. re-imaginings of classic fairy tales.. very well written and the art is also top notch... someday I'll finish buying myself the rest of The Sandman (I've read it all however). This was another series suggested to me by Siegfried, he has good taste in comics! I tend to mostly read novels and graphic novels when they are recommended to me by a select few, which of course cuts down on the amount of crap I've read but really has boosted the quality of things I float past my eyeballs.

Saturday I'm having my Axis and Allies game. A few folks have dropped out last minute so we aren't going to have the full 7, but we'll probably have 6 if Siegfried shows up. Right now players are James, Blair, Brendan, Russell and myself. If you are interested in playing, let me know we might be able to fit you in, I'm still waiting to hear from a replacement player so there may be room.

Sunday will be Easter dinner with the family.

With that, I must hit the shower and get ready to go out and start my weekend!

They are splitting the finale in to a trilogy!

The good news is, we get a trilogy. The Bad news is, we get a trollogy...

Due Nov 2009, 2010, 2011.. I never imagined when I received The Eye of the World for Christmas in 1990 I wouldn't be finished in 2010!

Overall, I am fairly happy with the reno I did at www.Ealdormere.ca.. part of my mandate was to keep it simple for another to update (html does that). It's been two years since I did the first part of the reno, and I have added new sections as time has allowed. I've been successful I think.

However, there is always room for improvement, and I am asking my friends for some advice, criticism, things you'd like to see (removed or added ;) )

What would you like to see changed at www.Ealdormere.ca?

I attended my first concert last night!

I took the GO bus in to the Scarborough Town Centre and of course ran into someone I knew (I can't go anywhere without doing so), while I waited for the rest of the concert going group to meet up with me... we stopped at the original Wimpy's Dinner at St. Clair & Kennedy, then drove in the rest of the way to the city.

All in all a good experience. It was also my first visit to the ACC. The show ended up being about 1 1/2 hours, starting a little after 8pm.

Here is the setlist:

Monday Morning
The Chain
Dreams
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Gypsy
Go Insane
Rhiannon
Second Hand News
Tusk
Sara
Big Love
Landslide
Never Going Back Again
Storms
Say You Love Me
Gold Dust Woman
Oh Well
I'm So Afraid
Stand Back
Go Your Own Way

followed by a double encore!

Encore 1:
World Turning
Don't Stop

Encore 2:
Silver Springs

Lindsay Buckingham was phenomenal, better than ever. Same with Mick Fleetwood. Time has taken a bit of a toll on Stevie Nick's voice, but still was sounding pretty good (gotta consider most of the band is 60+)..

It's been a while since I've written about a event.. It's been a while since I've been to a event I could write about :)

Winter War

Kingdom 12th night was nice but was so cramped I had trouble getting quality time with every other sentence having to move out of someone's way. Winter War was very different.

The day started off rather early for me, up at 7am! Grom and Anika from Eoforwic live very close to me and we've been hanging out a bit lately, so we drove down together. Good times!

I was able to hang out with old and new friends alike. I heard from Tangwystl on my SCA photo archiving project, she brought me an album to scan.. some great stuff in there I am looking forward to sharing soon! As always, if you have some photos you'd like to share please contact me!

I was able to catch up with many friends I wasn't able to talk to, or who weren't at 12th Night. Gunthar and I were also able to talk to canker_canisonCanker Canison (Colyne Stewart) about getting online to play some Left 4 Dead.. bhwhwaha!

T'Sivia's Pelican ceremony was great. I feel that the SCA has lost some of it's pomp and ceremony and it was fantastic to see her "kickin' it old school" as it were. Lots of good photos that I will be posting to my galleries at Tworavens.org.

Fortune stuck when we ran into Finnvarr, forest_ladyforest_lady, helfeyhelfey and nfdaughternfdaughter at East Side Marios. nfdaughternfdaughter had mentioned gathering people at East Side's earlier in the week, but I had forgotten about it, though I did try to find folks before they left site to see where people were gathering for dinner. Grom and Anika are fans of ESM as am I, and when they walked in we moved tables and hung out.

The drive home was long, raining along the way. Some of the streets in St. Thomas were flooded! It's about an extra 50 minutes to St. Thomas over Woodstock where Winter War has previously been held. Still, I arrived home at approximately midnight, watched the episode of BSG and slept a good long sleep.

Watchmen
I had been out the previous night at the AMC Whitby complex with Steve, Melissa & Siegfried to see The Watchmen.

I really enjoyed reading The Watchmen, when folks say it is the definitive Graphic Novel, they are not stretching the truth. The film translation made many fans of the novel apprehensive, we've seen so many far less complex series trashed when they get to the big screen, but kudos to Zach Snyder to keeping Watchmen intact & fantastic. Now, I will not go as far to say that Watchmen is for everyone. I will say, if you liked The Dark Knight, you will really enjoy this. I am a HUGE Batman fan, being my favourite superhero. In fact, the current series of films with Christian Bale is one of my favourite iterations of the franchise.. Watchmen was a better film than The Dark Knight. The cast was fantastic, including so many familiar faces in extended cast. Many of them great character actors. The main cast did not include any A-list Hollywood actors, which is very refreshing!

The big issue of the film: The altered film ending. I knew it was coming, and I reserved judgement until I'd seen it myself. Without telling you what either ending is, Siegfried and I (who is also a Watchmen fan) both strongly felt that the film ending is a more intelligent ending to the story. It played more with the strengths of the characters involved, was still profound, and eliminated the sense of Deux Ex Machina in the original novel.. 5 stars! I think I will be going back out to watch again later this week.

Props to angieshotwheelsAngelina who sent this to me to try to cheer me up, brilliant!

I think I have to agree with her, the Perl Jam's Even Flow/Old McDoanld is my favourite. Metallica's Enter Sandman/BINGO is a close second.
